Sheep:

James Baaahhnd (0007) 3/4 Icelandic, 1/4 Shetland 2014, bottle baby, Originated at K. C. Icelandics, Milton, TN, came to us in September 2014.

Photo of my sheep named James.

James, begging for treats.

James’s 2015 spring fleece was a total loss, as I had no idea what I was doing when I sheared him, so I first cut only about half as close to the skin as I should have. The rest was full of burrs.  Hopefully I will do better with his fall clip!

I think that Q’s spring 2015 fleece will give me some good wool to work with, as I did a much better job on him! It helps that his undercoat had already separated ( a traditional shetland trait, called Rooing) so that I could see what I was doing and just had to cut the outer coat. Plus, he stood still for me, where James was a jumpy little bugger!

These two boys have proven the last several years to have wonderful fleeces, and lots of them too!
